COVID-19: Current Information and Guidance

Silva Care are taking extra precautions to help keep our staff and the people we support safe and supported from exposure to the COVID-19 virus. The information below shows you what precautions we will be taking to ensure the safety of our staff and service users.

What Silva Care are doing?

  • Communicating regularly with people who access our services and their families/carers as well as our staff team.
  • Increasing infection control measures across all of our services.
  • Staying up to date and following government guidance.
  • Producing information in accessible formats for the people we support.
  • We have a robust business continuity plan which is updated regularly. This helps us identify staff and service users most at risk and helps us with our contingency planning.
  • Meeting with the local authorities and other providers to make sure we share good practice.
  • We have two dedicated health & safety qualified personnel who are dedicated to providing support across our services.
  • Each service has a COVID-19 risk assessment in place and updated guidance with regards the use of personal protective equipment.
  • We have limited any visitors to our sites where the visit is non-essential for the health and welfare of the individual.
  • We are following guidance and have cancelled a number of our activities involving larger community based social gatherings.

Other measures we are taking

  • We are closely monitoring the health of any of our service users in supported living services, including regular temperature checks.
  • We are logging any suspected cases of both staff and service users and informing the Care Quality Commission and local authorities as per their guidance, this helps us to ensure that people do not return to work until they have completed the required isolation period.
  • Carry out regular audits of our services to ensure that they are compliant with COVID-19 plans, this includes equipment and hygiene checks.
  • We have cancelled any non-essential meetings or are carrying them out via video calls.
  • Any other measures required such as isolated individual cases.

We respectfully ask that you keep your family member/carer for person at home if they are unwell at this time, and follow the self-isolation guidance if any family member presents with the following symptoms.

  • Temperature/flu like symptoms
  • Breathing difficulties
Please can you let us know as soon as possible if you or a family member presents with the above symptoms.

Can we ask that you observe and follow the latest government guidance to ensure that we all help to protect our most vulnerable people and prevent the spread of the virus.

Can you please refrain from visiting our services wherever possible, please contact the manager of your service for further information on visiting. We can arrange video calls via skype with your loved ones if needed.

Ongoing plans

We are following government and NHS England guidance, and this may unfortunately lead to service disruptions and possibly the temporary closure of some of our services. Our supported living services will remain open. We will keep you informed and ask for your support and patience in this difficult time and be ensured that we will minimise disruptions as far as possible.  If you have any concerns about your support, please contact head office on 01179562411 during office opening hours which are 8:30 – 16:30 Monday to Friday. We do offer an out of hours service on the same number but this is for emergency calls only.
